FAQs

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No, we do not require a doctor’s referral. If you feel that your child would benefit from speech and/or language support or if you just want to find out if your child’s current speech and language is developmentally appropriate, you can self-refer for services.

Are you an Ontario Autism Program Provider?

Yes! We are an approved OAP provider. Detailed receipts will be provided following appointments which can be submitted to OAP.

Does my child need an assessment?

Yes. Each speech language intervention program is customized to your child’s unique strengths and areas of need. If your child has recently been assessed by another SLP please let us know during your free consultation.

Should I be concerned about my child being a late talker?

If you have concerns about your child’s speech and language development, please utilize our free phone consultation services! We are happy to discuss where your child is currently at and if assessment/further consultation is recommended.

Can I use my extended benefits for speech therapy?

Yes, many extended health benefit programs include some funds which may be used for speech and language services. While we do not direct bill insurance companies, we do provide all clients with detailed receipts that may be submitted to extended benefits for reimbursement.

Where do sessions take place?

Most of the sessions Bloom Bright Speech provides take place in our client’s homes. However, we are also able to provide services at schools, daycares, and community locations. We believe that children learn best in environments where they are most comfortable! Home sessions also allow the clinician to provide home practice suggestions that are tailored to your child based on toys/books/items that you already own. Additionally, providing services in your child’s everyday environment increases the probability of skills learned in therapy carrying over into everyday life outside of speech sessions.

Do you have a clinic/physical location?

No, we do not have a clinic or physical location. We believe that speech language therapy is most effective in children’s natural environments, whether that be home, school, daycare, or the community. An added benefit to being a mobile practice is convenience for families! Less time spent driving to and from sessions.

What is your availability?

Currently, we are offering evening (5pm-9pm) sessions and weekend sessions (Saturday and Sunday 9am-3pm). In the near future, we hope to expand our availability to include daytime weekday sessions.

Is there a waitlist?

No! We are currently accepting new clients and can offer assessments/intervention right away.

What do sessions look like?

Your clinician will come to your home (or other preferred location) with all the tools and toys necessary to complete assessments and intervention. We are also happy to incorporate any books or toys you have into our sessions. Typically, sessions are spent playing on the floor or seated at a table. Session length varies from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and is dependent on your child’s needs and attention span. They may occur weekly, biweekly or on a more consultative basis.
